Energy recovery is a NEW project by KSG Solid Waste Management Office implemented in order to help reduce the 26% of plastic waste that is being disposed at the national landfill. The project uses a machine that melts certain types of plastics (with no harmful emissions) into bio-diesel fuel which is then used to run a generator that provides electricity to the facilities. Convertible types of plastic wastes includes bottle caps and wrappings, butane caps, plastic bags, candy bar wrappings, bleach containers and caps.
We ask the community to help our office by donating used or unwanted plastics.
